Mistletoe Cottage is a charming Grade II listed Tudor period cottage forming part of an ancient manor house on the edge of the parkland for Chilham Castle. In an idyllic rural setting, it is a short walk from the village pubs, such as the White Horse Chilham and the centre of this stunning Kent village often used in film sets! The cottage is approached from the gravelled parking area by a delightful garden with a pretty brick path with lawn either side.
The ancient front door opens straight into to a cosy sitting room which has attractive views over the front garden. This room has a beamed ceiling, a delightful old fireplace with open fire to curl up in front of.
There is a sofa and two arm chairs, and a coffee table to while away the evenings in front of the fire whilst playing cards or board games, which are provided. There is a TV with DVD, video, CD player, free wireless broadband and local information leaflets displayed in order to plan your days out. The steep wooden staircase leads directly from this room.
The attractive shaker style kitchen with painted units in a pretty shade of pale blue overlooks the rear garden and has a dining table to seat 4. There is a fridge/freezer, electric oven with extractor, hob, dishwasher and microwave.
There is a washing machine and dryer and to the ground floor rear there is a black and white bathroom with modern fittings, heated towel rail, heater, WC, basin and bath with shower over.
Upstairs is accessed by wooden stairs from the sitting room, at the top of the stairs there is a large landing with child gate and a single bed. There is a pretty twin bedroom which has beamed ceilings, a wardrobe, dressing table with delightful views to the quiet country lane.
Outside there is the most quintessential English country cottage garden, the front overlooks a quiet country lane which is the North Downs Way National Trail and Ancient Pilgrims Way to Canterbury, with Chilham Castle parkland beyond. The rear garden has lovely landscaped flower beds being a haven for butterflies and wildlife. There is a pretty lawned area with wooden garden table and chairs seating 4. The bottom part of garden adjoins the adjacent property and winds down to reveal lovely far reaching views across open fields and a small orchard.
This self catering holiday cottage is situated in Chilham, Kent. Chilham is a picturesque beautifully kept Kent village on a hill about 5 miles to the south of Canterbury. The village square is surrounded by beamed medieval Kentish structures and is such a good example of a truly English village, that it has been used many times for photo shoots! In fact the whole village is in a conservation area and has been listed it attracts visits by tourists worldwide. The Kent village of Chilham itself has two public houses; a tea room, post office and gift shop and on the edge of the village a farm shop selling local produce that you can enjoy during your stay at this luxury holiday cottage in Kent. There is much to do from boat trips on the Stour to ghost walks through the old part of the city at dusk. There are a really good range of restaurants and bars, and many shops and boutiques to explore and its busy cafe society that make this a must during your stay in this self catering holiday cottage in Kent. There is a also bustling farmers market at The Goodshed in Canterbury.
There are many historic sites to visit including Dover Castle, the world-famous Sissinghurst Gardens and the spectacular Leeds Castle, well-known as one of the most beautiful castles in England.
The nearby village of Wye has a bustling Saturday farmers market or you can explore the renowned foodmarket in Canterbury at The Goodshed. For foodies why not take a trip to Whitstable to sample the oysters or buy fresh fish direct from the fisherman at the quay or explore the internationally renowned vineyards that Kent is known for with Biddenden Vineyards only a 30 minute drive away. There are several stunning gardens to visit within an easy reach including Sissinghurst and Great Dixter.
Not far from this holiday cottage in Kent is the hotel complex of Eastwell Manor offering a wonderfully relaxing retreat for spa and beauty treatments for you to make the most of during your stay in Kent. There are also lovely walks from the Kent village through the thousands of acres of Forestry Commission woodland that surrounds Chilham, it is also situated on the ancient Pilgrims Way.
